European Championship
Workum Holland

The 2025 European Championship for the Javelin class took place near Workum, on the IJsselmeer – the largest lake in the Netherlands. Many sailors fondly remembered the location from the successful European events held there in 2019 and 2022, and once again, Friesland delivered exceptional conditions for competitive sailing.
The event, hosted from the waterfront campsite at It Soal, allowed sailors to launch directly from the field adjacent to the slipway. The on-site camping arrangement created a lively and sociable atmosphere, bringing together sailors, families, and supporters in a vibrant regatta village setting. Off the water, families enjoyed exploring the local area, taking in the culture and scenery of Friesland.
On the water, conditions ranged from light to moderate, testing consistency and tactical skill. After a full and competitive series with 13 races and 3 discards, the final standings saw:

- 1st Place: GER 570 – Jens Schlittenhard and Malte Riesner, delivering an impressive and consistent performance with multiple race wins.
- 2nd Place: GER 584 – Christiaan Wirts and Thorsten Fischer, closely following with a strong early showing and tactical sailing.
- 3rd Place: GBR 580 – Eddy and Neil Reid, showcasing great speed and resilience across varying conditions.
