Paul Wright Team Racing Trophy

The Team Racing Trophy is the Javelin Association’s award for team racing winners, originally created for (and long associated with) the Buckenham Sailing Club team racing weekend. The Yearbooks show it was designed and built in GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and donated by Paul Wright. Winners are evidenced intermittently, with named winners recorded for 1992, 1993 and 1994, plus narrative event reports for earlier Buckenham team racing.

1. Inaugural period, Buckenham (early 1980s)
   The Yearbook describes the launch of team racing at Buckenham Sailing Club, with a trophy donated by Paul Wright, built in GRP, and an early decision that the event should remain at Buckenham rather than rotate.
   
2. 1988 Buckenham event (reported in 1989 Yearbook)
   A detailed “Javelin Team Racing 1988” report lists teams and results, noting protests, and concludes that a Buckenham team (Alan Martin, Kevin Edwards, Kenny Pye) won. [Javelin Yearbook 1989]
   
3. 1992 National Team Racing Championship, Upton Warren won. 
   The Yearbook records Upton Warren winning (team name “Whitewash”), and the trophy status page lists Upton Warren as current holders with the named sailors (including Matthew and Adrienne Botfield). [Javelin Yearbook 1993]
   
4. 1993 season, GYGSC “Gallstones”
   The 1994 Yearbook Trophy Awards list records GYGSC “Gallstones” as Team Racing winners, and the accompanying team racing report shows Team 2 as the overall winner.
   
5. 1994 season, Bartley Green SC
   The 1995 Yearbook records Bartley Green SC as the Team Racing Trophy winners. It includes a report of the Upton Warren weekend (15 to 16 October 1994), listing the team and giving the overall finishing order.
